The OVC Diaspora Investor Expo is proud to welcome The World Bank and its distinguished lineup of keynote speakers to the OVC Expo!
The featured Speakers are James (Jim) Cust, Senior Economist in the Office of the Chief Economist, Africa Region of the World Bank, Cesar Calderon, Lead Economist in the same office, and Ms. Edith Jibunoh, External and Corporate Relations (ECR) Manager for East and Southern Africa.
Ms. Jibunoh brings a wealth of experience to the OVC Diaspora Investor Expo, having held various roles within the World Bank and the Nigerian government. As ECR Manager for East and Southern Africa, Ms. Jibunoh’s priorities include providing strategic communication, stakeholder outreach, and reputation risk management advice to the leadership of the region, leading the development of coordinated communication and partner engagement strategies across the region in collaboration with corporate units, and creating a culture of teamwork, innovation, client orientation, and talent management.
James (Jim) Cust, Senior Economist in the Office of the Chief Economist, Africa Region of the World Bank, will also be joining the OVC Diaspora Investor Expo as a keynote speaker. Mr. Cust’s work focuses on the macroeconomics of natural resources, climate, and sustainable development, and he led the World Bank’s Changing Wealth of Nations program and a recent flagship study on Africa’s Resource Future and the low carbon transition. He co-founded the CEoG initiative, convening a network of African chief economic advisors to 40 African presidents to discuss pressing policy questions such as guiding the economic recovery in their respective countries and how to accelerate economic transformation and sustainable growth.
Cesar Calderon, Lead Economist in the Office of the Chief Economist, Africa Region of the World Bank, will also be sharing his insights as a roundtable participant. Mr. Calderon holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Rochester, New York. He joined the World Bank in 2005 and has worked on issues of open economy macroeconomics, growth, and development—especially, the growth impact of infrastructure development and outward-oriented strategies. He is currently working on issues of growth and productivity in Africa, trade diversification and growth, and policy determinants of macroeconomic resilience.
The OVC Diaspora Investor Expo is an exciting opportunity for investors and entrepreneurs to connect and share ideas, with a particular focus on the African diaspora community. We look forward to welcoming our distinguished lineup of keynote speakers and roundtable participants, and to exploring the many opportunities for investment and innovation that the African continent has to offer.
